Lakeview Residence: A Mountain Modern Retreat at Grandfather Golf & Country Club
Tucked into the scenic hills of Grandfather Mountain, the Lakeview Residence is a two-bedroom, two-bath condo designed to echo the textures and tones of its natural surroundings. Form & Function Co. was brought on to reimagine the space as a sophisticated yet grounded mountain retreat, one that feels calm, connected, and quietly elevated.
The Vision
Our clients wanted a home that reflected the serenity of the landscape without feeling rustic. With panoramic views of the lake and surrounding evergreens, the design direction became clear: a palette inspired by the outdoors, soft greens, layered neutrals, and accents of mulberry for depth and warmth. The subtle touch of mulberry complements the greens beautifully, adding a refined richness that feels unexpected but organic.
The Design Approach
Every decision was rooted in the idea of natural textures, stone, wood, woven fibers, and tactile finishes that feel honest and enduring. The open-concept kitchen and living area bring in lighter wood tones, brushed brass hardware, and natural stone surfaces that ground the design. The mulberry accent threads through art, textiles, and accessories, giving the interiors a sense of polish and continuity.
In the bathrooms, soft lighting and marble-inspired tile create a spa-like calm, with just a hint of color and texture to tie back to the home’s earthy palette.
Inspired by the Landscape
We wanted every material and hue to feel like it belonged to the setting not competing with the view, but harmonizing with it. From the soft green cabinetry that mirrors the pines to the muted mulberry textiles that mimic wild mountain berries, the design brings the landscape inside in a way that feels natural and effortless.
What’s Next
As the project moves into the finishing stages, we’re so excited to see this palette come to life against the backdrop of Grandfather Mountain. The Lakeview Residence embodies everything we love about mountain modern design organic, layered, and deeply connected to its place.
